The Countdown....

We are still doing great and counting down the days until baby Ryan is ready to appear. Considering that he has now dropped down and is in position to come at any time, we were relieved that he decided not to come on Christmas! Now we're playing the waiting game, but I'm honestly feeling so much better than I did a couple weeks ago that I don't mind. I have started my leave so now I can rest as much as I want and with the baby in a lower position, I'm having an easier time breathing and sleeping and my heartburn is almost gone.

We had somewhat of a scare earlier in the week when my dad had to be admitted to the hospital for severe chest pains. They found a blocked artery in his heart, but luckily there is no permanent damage nor is surgery required. So he is home resting now and is on strict orders to take medication anytime he feels that pain again. Unfortunately, with him recovering at home and me ready to go into labor at any moment, we were not able to spend Christmas together this year. But Alex's family made the trek down from Santa Barbara in the rain to spend Christmas with us and we all enjoyed a day of chatting, opening presents and yummy food!!

Baby Ryan got some more handmade gifts from grandma Mustacich, including this adorable sleepsack, sweater, booties and hat.

More booties and hats made by Aida and Jeanette to make sure Ryan stays warm when he arrives!

The Big 3-0

As of today it's official: I'm no longer a twenty-something-year-old and have entered the next decade of my life. As I think back over my twenties, I have to say I'm very happy with everything I've accomplished in my life so far. I have a wonderful husband and lots of close family and friends. I have a great career going and live in a beautiful area. I've gotten to travel abroad and then come home to three loyal furry companions. And best of all, I'm about to become a MOMMY!!! Yes, this year is a happy year indeed and I'm excited to see what life has in store for me next!

Although I decided against any big celebrations right now since I barely have the energy to function on a day to day basis, I'm doing a bunch of mini bday celebrations including a couple nice dinners out with the hubbie, seeing the Nutcracker ballet, having lunches with friends and checking out some local Christmas lights. In between all this, we are STILL trying to finish some organizing around our house. It's amazing the amount of stuff one can accumulate over the years, but it feels great to get rid of the clutter! And we're both really excited with how the place is coming together. After years of painting, replacing stuff and saving up to buy furniture, we're finally at the point of actual decorating and hanging pictures on walls. And let me tell you, it feels great to have a place that really feels like our own! We are most excited with the room we have set up for baby Ryan but have decided to not post photos at this time. Since our families are coming down for Christmas we want to show them in person first.

So stay tuned for the next installment of the M Family Tales!
