Ryan's Big Day

Today is Ryan's first birthday! Me oh my, we can't believe our baby is one already!! Although his party with our families is on Saturday, we decided to have a little celebration tonight with just the three of us. So we had dinner at a local Italian restaurant (the same one we had dinner at the night I found out I was pregnant!), followed by cupcakes and presents at home. I made the crown out of wool felt following this pattern. It's a Waldorf inspired tradition in which a special crown is made to be worn only on the child's birthday each year. And sometimes you add a number of stars or jewels that correspond to the age the child is turning. The gifts were wrapped in Sarah's playsilks, which can also be used for dress up or building forts or doll blankets, etc... It was a little special celebration for a very special guy!
